Love is giving someone the power to destroy you, but trusting them not to. This is one of the main reasons I have trust issues when it comes to love.
My first love literally went through hell to get past my defenses, only to end up playing me in the end. For that reason, it’s hard for me to wholeheartedly give myself to anyone. To some people you may be nothing more than a conquest; which is also why I don’t pursue anyone without having honest intent. Too often people try to win your heart just to break it.
Personally, I’m thankful for the experience. I probably would not have become a better person had I not felt the sting of heartbreak myself. There is one thing about heartbreak that people fail to realize: the person that broke you actually did you a favor. Through that relationship they either taught you how to love, or put you through the hell that will make you appreciate the blessing that’s coming.
Love is always worth it in the end.
